Tweak your Google! — July, 2005 Editors Pick

"Those of us who use Google on a day to day basis have probably noticed a few minor annoyances that we could happily live without, such as the ads next to our Gmail messages or the bombardment of search results from a worthless domain.

CustomizeGoogle is an extension that allows you to add or remove elements from Google pages that may or may not be to your liking. With the introduction of a "CustomizeGoogle Options" item in your Tools menu you can automatically remove ads from Google pages, add "Google Suggest" functionality by default, or even block results from particular sites.

Links from image searches can be altered to point directly to the image URL rather than the containing page, or if you're the paranoid type you can anonymize your Google cookie UID. If you're a frequent Google user, this might well be the extension for you."
